The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl Competition 2019

  1. Women aged from 18 years to under 25 years as at 1 May in the year of the State Final.

  2. Entrants must reside, be educated, or work within New South Wales for at least three months prior to their local Showgirl Competition to qualify to compete within the State.

  3. Only candidates nominated by an Agricultural Show Society are eligible for Zone and State Final judging.

  4. Previous entrants in the Showgirl Competition are eligible to enter, however they are not to have been one of the 1st, 2nd or 3rd place-getters in a previous State Final.

  5. Current Rural Achiever applicants for the 2019 Sydney Royal Show.

  6. Winning entrants who are employed or engaged in full time studies will be required to obtain a leave of absence to attend Zone and State Final Judging.

  7. The winning Showgirl is requested, where possible, to represent the RAS, ASC and their local Show Society at Agricultural Shows.

  8. The State Final Judging will take place in Sydney from Tuesday 9 April 2019 and conclude on Monday 15 April 2019 with the State Final Presentation on Sunday 14 April 2019 at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Finalists will be guests of the RAS whilst in Sydney, but will be required to pay their own travelling expenses to and from Sydney.

  9. The first, second and third placegetters of the State Final will be asked to remain in Sydney as guests of the RAS until Thursday 18 April 2019 (last night of RAS funded accommodation on Wednesday 17 April) to perform official duties at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Other finalists may leave Sydney on Monday 15 April 2019 after all official Showgirl Functions.

  10. All entrants are to abide by the Showgirls’ Code of Conduct, as set out by the RAS and the ASC, when acting as an ambassador for RAS, ASC or their local Show Society.

RAS Rural Achiever Award

The RAS Rural Achiever Award is a state-wide leadership program run by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW to recognise future young leaders who are working hard to make a significant contribution to their local community and to rural Australia. The Award aims to acknowledge the achievements of young people (20 – 29 years of age) in primary industry and rural communities.

The program promotes and facilitates unique agricultural industry networking opportunities with rural leaders and other likeminded individuals through RAS and ASC connections and functions during the Sydney Royal Easter Show. This heightens the opportunity for the recipients to become future leaders in primary industry or the rural community.

The recipients are given additional opportunities throughout the year such as representing NSW at the National Rural Ambassador Award, and the chance to partake in an exchange program to the Royal Adelaide Show.

The program will celebrate 30 years in 2019. As part of an ongoing alumni program our hope is that Rural Achievers also become ambassadors for the RAS and the wider Show movement.
